Teachers will gain the knowledge and ability to use and create digital media within their content areas to enhance student learning and engagement. Educators can use digital media in many ways, from introducing new material to helping students learn to conduct research, synthesize large amounts of content and gain expertise in the use of digital communication and authoring tools. It also can help students organize these ideas as they learn to create stories for an audience, and present their ideas and knowledge in an individual and meaningful way. Participants will design, develop, and complete a digital story aligned to the classroom objectives within a core content area of choice; Literacy, Math, Science, Social Studies. They will explore how this 21st-century literacy, integrates core subject knowledge while addressing the multiple intelligences and learning styles of diverse student populations Participants will gain a working knowledge of: How digital media can be utilized in the core content areas. Assembling digital media from a digital camera, video camera, scanner, or the Internet. Importing digital media into PC-based or MAC applications. Editing digital media in each application. The editing features of PC or MAC based applications. Combining audio, still image and video to create a finished Digital Story.
